Norton College is a specialist independent school for secondary students aged 11-19 in Worcester and Tewkesbury. The role
Norton College seeks a creative and dedicated Art Teacher or Art Instructor to join its team from September 2026. The permanent, term-time-only position is based at the Worcester site and offers a salary of up to £39,000 per annum, depending on experience. Hours are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.00pm. This role does not offer sponsorship and is open to UK applicants only.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging, personalised art lessons that inspire pupils with special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition. Working closely with teaching and support staff, the post holder will foster creativity, confidence and self-expression in a safe and inclusive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, personalised art lessons tailored to pupils with SEN, including Autism Spectrum Condition.
- Create a safe, nurturing learning environment that encourages creativity, independence and self-expression.
- Adapt teaching strategies and artistic activities to support pupils' academic, social, emotional and creative development.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, therapists and families to secure positive outcomes for every learner.
- Celebrate pupil achievements through artwork displays, projects, exhibitions and enrichment activities.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour management and pastoral care.
Requirements
- QTS is required for the teaching position; a recognised qualification is required for the instructor position.
- Experience in art, fine art, art and design or a related creative subject is desirable.
- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly Autism Spectrum Condition.
- A creative, enthusiastic approach to art education with the ability to inspire learners of varying abilities.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and supporting every pupil to achieve their full potential.
