Assistant Head - Teaching & Learning Basic

The role

To drive excellence in pedagogy, curriculum planning, and assessment across all phases, ensuring high-quality teaching and strong student outcomes at Durham School Dubai.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and enhance whole-school teaching and learning strategies from EYFS to KS5.
• Oversee curriculum planning aligned with the National Curriculum for England.
• Monitor teaching quality through observations, coaching, and feedback.
• Lead assessment, data analysis, and progress tracking to inform instruction.
• Support professional development and instructional coaching for staff.
• Drive innovation in pedagogy and promote best practices across departments.
• Contribute to school improvement planning and inspection readiness for KHDA and DSIB.
• Foster a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant subject.
• Recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent.
• Proven middle or senior leadership experience in a British curriculum school.
• Strong expertise in curriculum design, assessment, and pedagogy.
• Experience leading whole-school teaching and learning initiatives.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of the KHDA inspection framework is desirable.
