The role
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Computing Teacher to join our exceptional team. The successful candidate will deliver consistently excellent Computing teaching that inspires curiosity, develops digital literacy, computational thinking and problem-solving skills, and secures strong progress for every student. The postholder will contribute to the development of Computing across the growing secondary phase and uphold the values, standards and wider strategic vision of GEMS Royal Dubai School.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver consistently excellent, engaging Computing lessons aligned with the NCfE, using strong subject knowledge and effective pedagogy to develop computational thinking, programming, digital literacy, problem-solving and practical skills.
- Set high expectations for achievement, behaviour and participation, creating a safe, inclusive and purposeful learning environment in which every student can succeed.
- Use assessment effectively to adapt teaching, provide meaningful feedback, track progress and implement timely intervention.
- Contribute to Computing curriculum planning, assessment and moderation, ensuring students develop a strong foundation in programming, computer science, digital technologies and computational thinking.
- Support the development of the Computing curriculum and prepare students for future GCSE Computer Science and related pathways as the secondary phase grows.
- Build strong relationships with students, colleagues and families, working collaboratively and communicating progress clearly.
- Contribute actively to the wider life and culture of the school through pastoral responsibilities, enrichment, extra-curricular activities and community events.
- Demonstrate a reflective, solution-focused High-Performance mindset and engage fully in professional learning, coaching, appraisal and quality assurance.
- Promote and safeguard studentsβ welfare and personal development, following all school policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
Requirements
- A recognised teaching qualification and degree in Computing, Computer Science or a closely related subject.
- Strong knowledge of the NCfE and experience of teaching Computing / Computer Science, with GCSE experience desirable.
- Strong knowledge of programming and computational thinking, with the ability to engage students through practical and innovative learning experiences.
- A proven record of securing strong student outcomes.
- Excellent classroom practice, behaviour management and communication skills.
- The ambition, adaptability and collaborative mindset required to contribute to a growing secondary school.
