The role

This is a new part-time position for a Design and Technology teacher. The post is offered on a permanent contract at 0.5 FTE, requiring 2.5 days per week, and will commence in January 2027. There is the opportunity, depending on applications, to combine this role with the Digital Education Lead position, also advertised at 0.5 FTE, to create a full-time role.

The successful candidate will lead and deliver a progressive design and technology curriculum to pupils in Key Stages 2 and 3. They will encourage pupils to be curious, experimental and reflective, developing their ideas through research, exploration, problem-solving and refinement.

Key responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Head of Art, Design and Technology, design, deliver and continually develop an inspiring Design and Technology curriculum across the 3-13 age range.
  • Enthuse pupils through purposeful, hands-on experiences that develop creativity, curiosity, problem-solving and design thinking.
  • Enable pupils to explore ideas, design, make, test, evaluate and refine their work.
  • Develop practical skills in design, drawing, modelling, construction, materials and tools, alongside an understanding of function, sustainability, innovation and the user.
  • Encourage pupils to think creatively, take risks, learn from mistakes and find imaginative solutions to real-world problems.
  • Support pupils in applying their Design and Technology skills across the wider curriculum, making meaningful connections with STEM, digital technology, sustainability and enterprise.
  • Make full use of the dedicated specialist space and resources, and contribute ideas for the continued development of creative provision and the curriculum.
