The role
Amity International School, Abu Dhabi seeks a qualified Teacher to serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the whole school. The position combines classroom teaching with whole-school safeguarding leadership to ensure student safety and wellbeing in an inclusive learning community. Key responsibilities
- Teaching some lessons as assigned
- Leading the whole-school safeguarding team
- Ensuring appropriate staff safeguarding training
- Managing concerns and referrals
- Liaising with external agencies for child protection
- Maintaining secure safeguarding records
- Developing school safeguarding policies
- Advising staff on child welfare issues
- Promoting a safeguarding culture school-wide
- Contributing to the online safety curriculum
- Overseeing attendance
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher status with relevant degree
- Advanced training in safeguarding and child protection
- Previous experience as a DSL or Deputy DSL
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practices
- Experience leading staff safeguarding training
- Strong confidential record-keeping abilities
- Excellent communication skills with all stakeholders
- Experience in safeguarding investigations and risk assessments
- Ability to develop whole-school safeguarding policies
- Strong teaching skills with evidence of classroom excellence
- Experience in international or multicultural environments preferred
- Commitment to teaching a primary class alongside DSL duties
Amity International School follows International Task Force on Child Protection recommendations and maintains a full commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare through effective recruiting practices.
