The role

Aldar Education seeks an outstanding Director of Physical Education to join Noya British School in Abu Dhabi for the Academic Year 2026/2027. The successful candidate will lead the Physical Education department, ensuring high standards of achievement and effective teaching and learning aligned with the school’s vision and values.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement policies and practices for the department that reflect the school’s vision, commitment to high standards, and effective teaching and learning.
• Establish, monitor and evaluate short, medium and long-term plans for departmental development.
• Use data effectively to identify underachieving students and implement targeted action plans.
• Analyse and interpret school data, research and inspection evidence to inform policies, expectations and teaching methods.
• Ensure appropriate schemes of work are developed, regularly reviewed and evaluated for all year groups, including suitable provision for SEN, G&T and EAL students.
• Guarantee curriculum coverage, continuity and progression for all students.
• Establish clear policies for assessing, recording and reporting on student achievement.
• Set expectations for staff regarding standards of achievement, teaching quality and behaviour.
• Evaluate the quality of teaching and learning and take action to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related subject with PGCE or other recognised teaching qualification.
• Minimum of six years’ teaching experience of the English National Curriculum.
• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
• Experience in a leadership role.
• Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
• Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities.
• Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or equivalent police clearance.
