The role

The Director of Programme Delivery will support outstanding educational leadership across Institute’s broad portfolio of Teacher Training and Professional Development programmes. Working as part of the Institute leadership team, the postholder will deliver quality and improvement at scale and report to the Director of Institute. The role is based in London on a hybrid working pattern with three days per week in the office. It is offered as a full-time, permanent contract with a salary of £75,000–£90,000.

The successful candidate will be a highly experienced senior education professional who can lead, provide strategic direction and collaborate with educational leaders, teachers and other educators. The postholder will support the strategic growth, quality and long-term sustainability of Teacher and Teaching Assistant programmes for schools and learners worldwide.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic and operational delivery of outstanding teacher training and development education across Institute programmes.
  • Lead the strategic growth and development of the programme portfolio, identifying opportunities to expand, adapt and strengthen programmes in line with learner needs, sector developments, regulatory requirements and commercial priorities.
  • Manage Heads of Programme Delivery, ensuring an unwavering focus on high-quality, compliant delivery and outcomes.
  • Ensure strong coordination and collaboration across programmes to enable consistency, efficacy and strategic use of skillsets.
  • Champion growth in programme leadership and development of leaders, with awareness of talent and succession planning.
  • Attend and input into external relationship activity, including Ofsted, MAT/LA and DfE assurance and governance activity.
  • Act as an externally facing expert in teacher training and development education, representing Institute with sector bodies, partners, schools and wider stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with wider Tes functions to ensure strong operational and compliant delivery at all stages.
  • Provide industry expertise to the Director of Institute and Head of Institute Sales and Marketing in managing relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Act as a trained Level 3 safeguarding lead as part of the safeguarding team.

Requirements

  • Substantial education leadership experience with demonstrable strategic and operational experience across teaching, learning, curriculum and delivery.
  • Proven skills in operating at a strategic level as a collaborative and supportive member of a senior team.
  • Significant experience of successfully delivering and managing teacher training and development programmes.
  • Prior experience of leadership through external inspection by regulatory bodies such as Ofsted.
  • Proven experience of managing and developing teams, including coaching and influencing staff to deliver innovative ways of working.
  • Proven experience of contributing to or leading strategic programme growth, including identifying opportunities and aligning delivery with organisational and commercial objectives.
  • Experience of management of educational programme delivery via a blended method.
  • Deep understanding of ongoing developments in teacher training education and the changing landscape of international teacher training needs.
  • Deep understanding of routes into teaching and professional development beyond initial teacher training.
  • Commercially astute and solutions focused, with the ability to identify and act on strategic growth opportunities.
  • Proactive and innovative, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines while also working flexibly and independently.
  • People focused with high emotional intelligence and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Teaching qualification (QTS) or equivalent.
