The role

Brighton College Dubai is seeking a DT Technician to support the Design and Technology Department. The position involves preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and assisting teaching staff with practical lessons and departmental activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare materials as required by the subject teacher prior to lessons
• Ensure hand tools are kept in optimum condition and stored correctly
• Organise extra equipment for lessons and regularly maintain equipment and tools in the workshop and classroom areas
• Empty and clean the dust extraction filters as required by the manufacturer and departmental calendar
• Keep all classrooms tidy, organised and free from hazards
• Assist Technology staff in developing appropriate resources for teaching and learning
• Organise the storage and maintenance of materials and tools in the Department
• Conduct stock-taking and ordering of materials, ingredients and equipment in conjunction with the Head of Department
• Organise and catalogue books in the department
• Assist with the organisation of trips, internal and external competitions and exhibitions involving Design Technology
• Provide support for the teacher during practical lessons
• Ensure that all Health and Safety requirements are met under the direction of the Head of Department
• Support the development and delivery of Computer Aided Design and Manufacture within the department
• Work as part of a team within the Design and Technology Department

Requirements

• Practical and hands-on experience with tools, equipment and materials is desirable
• Ability to show initiative and to prioritise one’s own work and that of others
• Ability to work as part of a team and individually
• Self-motivating with the ability to multi-task
• Confident in the use of ICT such as Microsoft Office applications; experience with Techsoft Design and Fusion 360 would be advantageous
