The role

St. Louis School - Caviglia seeks an Early Years Educator to join the team from January 2027. The successful candidate will deliver play-based education for children aged 2 to 5. Previous experience with the IB PYP curriculum is desirable, although applicants from other curricula who demonstrate high standards and innovative practice are also encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, play-based Early Years education for children aged 2–5.
  • Plan and implement engaging learning experiences that support holistic development across cognitive, social, emotional and physical domains.
  • Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that promotes curiosity, independence and wellbeing.
  • Observe, assess and track children’s progress, using evidence to inform planning and next steps.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding children’s development and learning.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent, high-quality Early Years provision.
  • Support early language, communication, numeracy and social development through structured and play-based activities.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, including events, trips and extracurricular activities.
  • Implement safeguarding, behaviour and pastoral care policies consistently.
  • Reflect on practice and engage in continuous professional development.

Requirements

  • Recognised Early Years teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children aged 2–5 in an Early Years or nursery setting.
  • Understanding of child development and early years pedagogy, including knowledge of EYFS, Reggio Emilia or equivalent frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Strong classroom management, organisation and planning skills focused on high-quality learning outcomes.
  • A passionate, child-centred approach with the ability to inspire curiosity, creativity and a love of learning.
  • A reflective and adaptable mindset committed to continuous improvement.
  • Valid EU passport and work permit.
