The role
We are seeking a committed part-time Geography Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will prepare and deliver a full educational teaching plan for GCSE and A-Level students, providing knowledge and instruction while supporting the development of students’ personalities and skills. The post requires a passion for teaching, the ability to build relationships of mutual trust with students, and the skill to organise classes that make learning engaging and meaningful.
Key responsibilities
- Teach lessons in a comprehensive manner using visual and audio resources to support learning
- Provide individualised instruction through interactive learning approaches
- Create and distribute educational content including notes, summaries and assignments
- Assess and record student progress, providing grades and constructive feedback
- Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom environment
- Collaborate with senior teachers, administrators and other stakeholders through regular meetings
- Plan and deliver educational in-class events
- Observe and understand student behaviour, reporting any concerns regarding welfare
- Develop professional skills through attendance at seminars and conferences
- Maintain accurate teaching and learning documentation
Requirements
- Proven experience as a teacher
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines, with a willingness to follow school policies and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills and commitment
- Creative and energetic approach
- Degree in Geography or a related field
- Formal teaching qualification such as PGCE, AET or DET (desirable)
- Membership of the Society for Education and Training (desirable)
- QTLS, QTS, ATS or Chartered Teacher Status (desirable)
Benefits & package
- £40.00–£45.00 per hour (inclusive of holiday entitlement), dependent on experience, qualifications and subject level
- Royal London Workplace Pension Scheme with 4% employer contribution
- Fixed-term contract from 7 September 2026 to 26 June 2027
- Up to 10 hours per week, term time only
- 3-month probation period
- Access to staff gym and industry-leading CPD
- Attendance at inset day on 2 September 2026 required
