Reporting to: Head of School and School Leadership Team

Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary commensurate with the role's responsibilities and the candidate's experience. The Opportunity

Raoul Wallenberg International School (RWIS) is seeking a forward-thinking and strategically minded Head of Digital & Innovation, with responsibilities that include leading Digital Literacy learning across selected year levels, to join our growing school for the 2026–2027 academic year.

This senior role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and drive the school’s digital vision, ensuring RWIS remains future-focused, innovative, and aligned with international best practice in educational technology. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of digital infrastructure, IT systems, cybersecurity, digital platforms, and technology integration, while leading the development and implementation of a whole-school digital strategy and innovation roadmap.

As a member of the school’s middle leadership team, the Head of Digital & Innovation will guide the design of the Digital Literacy curriculum, support the development of co-curricular programs such as robotics and coding clubs, and help embed innovative technologies into a dynamic, inquiry-driven learning environment. While the position includes teaching Digital Literacy lessons, its primary focus is strategic: ensuring that RWIS has the systems, tools, culture, and long-term planning needed to support exceptional learning and school operations.

Position Scope

Digital Leadership and Management

  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the school's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and software systems.

  • Ensure the security and integrity of the school's IT systems.

  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.

Systems Administration:

  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.

  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant IT policies and regulations.

  • Ensure data protection compliance and best practices.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support to staff and students, addressing hardware and software issues promptly.

  • Develop and deliver training sessions to enhance IT proficiency among staff and students.

IT Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement a long-term IT strategy to ensure the school remains at the forefront of technology integration and development.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the school's IT strategy.

  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance educational delivery and administrative efficiency.

  • Adopt a research-based approach to technology integration and AI in education.

  • Manage cybersecurity measures to protect the school's digital assets.

Teaching and Learning:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons in Digital Literacy and/or Design

  • Incorporate project-based learning, service and experiential learning, education for sustainable development and real-world applications into teaching to inspire curiosity and critical thinking among students.

  • Foster a cross-curricular approach by collaborating with teachers of other subjects to integrate concepts across the curriculum.

  • Support the teaching team with the integration of modern technologies to support high quality teaching and learning.

  • Promote inclusion and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of learners, ensuring every student has access to the curriculum and opportunities to succeed.

Curriculum Planning and Assessment:

  • Design, plan, and implement lessons across Digital Literacy, ensuring a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application.

  • Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback that supports learning.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and manage student data to track progress and identify areas for growth.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency in curriculum planning and assessment practices across subject areas and year groups.

Character Development and Values-Based Education:

  • Support the development of students’ character through integration of the school’s guiding principles and Class Connect Programme, fostering a sense of community and respect.

  • Model and instil core values such as honesty, compassion, courage, and drive in daily teaching and interactions with students.

Collaboration and Community Building:

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the secondary school to plan, deliver, and review interdisciplinary teaching and learning programmes.

  • Build meaningful relationships with students, families, and the wider school community, ensuring open communication and strong partnerships.

  • Actively participate in the school’s professional development programme and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

  • This role will also involve providing comprehensive IT training, support and troubleshooting for the entire school community.

  • Contribute to the ASA (After School Activities) Programme by leading technology related  clubs, activities, or workshops that align with your interests and talents.


Ideal Candidate

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in education with specialism in IT, Computing or a related field, with preference for a Master’s degree or PhD.

  • At least 2-3 years of experience managing school IT systems, policies and procedures.

  • At least 2–3 years of teaching experience, ideally within an inquiry-based international and/or British school setting.

  • Experience with international programmes such as the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), Cambridge International Curriculum and International Baccalaureate (DP).

  • A strong record of teaching experience in lower secondary education, with demonstrable expertise in teaching, learning, and assessment.

  • Proficiency in English (fluency in Spanish, Swedish, German, or another language is an asset).

Additional Expectations:

  • Experience implementing educational systems such as Veracross, Toddle and Google Workspace for Education is an advantage.
