The role

Sharjah American International School seeks an experienced academic leader for the position of Head of Humanities at the Sharjah Campus. This full-time role begins in the 2026–2027 academic year and covers the subjects of History, Geography and Social Studies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Humanities department.
• Align curricula across History, Geography and Social Studies.
• Support teachers in delivering lessons that emphasise critical thinking.
• Oversee departmental operations and teacher development.

Requirements

• Formal teaching diploma such as a PGCE, Diploma in Education or equivalent teaching licence.
• Valid IELTS Academic certificate with a minimum band of 7.0.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in History, Humanities or a related field.
• Strong departmental leadership or supervisory experience in a reputable school.
