The role

A key member of the School Leadership Team, the Head of Secondary will provide direction, inspiration and guidance to Secondary teaching staff. Focused on developing a high performing team, and with the support of the Deputy Head, the postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school, including staff development, performance management and deployment. The role also includes membership of the Senior Leadership Team.

The successful candidate will deliver the UK National Curriculum, IGCSE, A Levels, International Baccalaureate Programme and BTEC in a fast-paced international environment. They will challenge students to set ambitious targets and use innovative teaching practices to enhance student experiences and outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction, inspiration and guidance to Secondary teaching staff
  • Develop and lead a high-performing team of teachers
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including staff development, performance management and deployment
  • Contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Deliver UK National Curriculum, IGCSE, A Levels, IB Diploma and BTEC programmes
  • Encourage students to set ambitious targets and adopt innovative teaching practices

Requirements

  • Qualified teacher with extensive hands-on teaching and management experience in education
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to set and meet challenging performance targets
  • Up-to-date knowledge of curriculum developments
  • Ability to work with a high degree of cultural sensitivity in a fast-paced international environment
  • Strong communication skills using a range of strategies and channels
  • Commercial, financial and organisational awareness to devise effective solutions
  • University degree in specialist subject, teaching qualification and considerable teaching experience
  • Receptive to feedback, ready to embrace change and keen to share best practice
  • Ability to meet visa-related requirements for the UAE
