The role
Aldar Education seeks an outstanding Head of Year - Primary to join Yasmina British Academy for the Academic Year 2026/2027. Candidates must demonstrate secure knowledge of the English National Curriculum and a proven track record of implementing effective strategies to raise standards and ensure outstanding progress for all students. The successful candidate will show leadership experience at a variety of levels and the ability to work collaboratively within a team, while aligning with the school’s core values and demonstrating appreciation for the values of the region.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement policies and practices that reflect the school’s vision, aims and commitment to high standards of achievement and effective teaching and learning.
- Establish, monitor and evaluate short, medium and long-term plans for departmental development.
- Use data effectively to identify underachieving students and create and implement action plans to support them.
- Analyse and interpret relevant school data to inform policies and contribute to school self-evaluation.
- Ensure appropriate schemes of work are developed, regularly reviewed and evaluated for all year groups, including suitable provision for SEN/POD, G&T and EAL students.
- Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity and progression for all students, including those of high ability and those with special educational needs.
- Set expectations for staff regarding standards of achievement, quality of teaching and learning, and behaviour.
- Evaluate the quality of teaching and learning and take action to further improve practice.
- Ensure the department contributes to the school’s CAS Programme and after-school booster and revision sessions.
- Performance manage the team in accordance with school policy.
- Ensure efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources, including control of departmental budgets.
- Maintain an effective and stimulating environment for teaching and learning in line with school policy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or other recognised teaching qualification.
- Minimum of six years’ teaching experience.
- Experience of the UK curriculum.
- Commitment to an extensive enrichment programme.
- Passionate and caring approach to education.
