Willow Park School is a brand-new specialist school in Milton Keynes for young people aged 9–16 with a range of complex needs. The school aims to equip every child with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed. Through a therapeutic educational approach, supported by specialist facilities and an experienced team, the school helps students with social, emotional and mental health needs, communication and interaction difficulties, and associated challenging behaviours to flourish in a safe and nurturing environment.

The role
Willow Park School seeks an enthusiastic and creative History Teacher to join its dedicated team. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, personalised lessons that inspire curiosity, encourage critical thinking and help pupils develop a genuine love of learning. Working within a specialist setting, the teacher will tailor lessons to meet individual needs, ensuring every pupil can achieve meaningful progress both academically and personally.
This is a permanent, term-time-only position starting September 2026. The role is based at Willow Park School, Milton Keynes, MK14 6LJ, for 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm. Salary is up to £43,000 per annum, depending on experience and not pro rata. UK applicants only; no sponsorship is available.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality History lessons that inspire curiosity and achievement.
- Adapt learning to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs.
- Create a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom where pupils feel confident to participate and succeed.
- Monitor, assess and celebrate pupil progress, using assessment to inform future learning.
- Encourage pupils to develop critical thinking, communication skills and a deeper understanding of historical events and their relevance today.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, families and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to curriculum development, enrichment activities and whole-school improvement.
- Promote pupils’ personal development, resilience, independence and emotional wellbeing.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/PGCE) or equivalent.
- Passion for History and commitment to making learning engaging and accessible for every pupil.
- Creative, adaptable and able to personalise learning for a wide range of abilities and needs.
- Experience in, or willingness to develop expertise in, teaching pupils with SEND, SEMH or additional needs.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
- Calm, patient and resilient, with a positive and solution-focused approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and helping every young person achieve their full potential.
