About the school

Runnymede College is a private non-denominational British school in Madrid offering a British education to boys and girls of all nationalities from the age of two to eighteen. The education offered follows the British National Curriculum.

Founded in September 1967, the primary school was inaugurated in 1987, and since 1990 the whole School has been located in La Moraleja, in the north of Madrid. The School is divided into Pre-Prep (Pre Nursery to Year 3), Prep (Years 4 to 8) and Senior School (Years 9 to 13).

Academic levels are high at Runnymede College. In June 2025, 57% of students achieved A-A* at A level, compared with 48% at independent schools in England. In addition, 67% of pupils gained A*-A grades at IGCSE. In the graduating class of 2025, 83% of pupils going to the UK attended Top 10 universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL and LSE. Students in the US have enrolled at Harvard, Columbia, UPenn and Brown.

The role

The school is looking to recruit an IT Support Specialist for an immediate start.

Key responsibilities

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
  • Daily checks of printers and photocopiers and resolution of incidents
  • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
  • Responding in a timely manner to service issues and requests
  • Providing technical support to school staff and pupils
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in person, remotely and by telephone
  • Monitoring the resolution of incidents and generating reports for quality control
  • Maintaining and updating documentation and inventory
  • Training users on new systems and software
  • Managing microcomputers, iPhones, iPads, teachers' computers, projectors, interactive whiteboards and Apple TVs
  • Analysing staff needs, identifying vulnerabilities and boosting efficiency
  • Supporting the ordering of materials from IT suppliers
  • Controlling the correct execution of backup copies on computers
  • Monitoring the distribution and installation of antivirus software and operating system patches on all workstations and servers
  • Installing and enrolling equipment for new additions or replacements
  • Managing hardware repairs
  • Managing audiovisual media including microphones, speakers and projectors

Requirements

  • At least two years' experience in IT support or a similar role
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritise and make decisions
  • Excellent organisation, planning and project management skills
  • Quick to adapt to change and flexible
  • Customer service focused
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with Mac work environment, iSAMS, JAMF, Apple School Manager, Meraki, Google Classroom, Zoom, Box, Slack and WordPress
