The role

Raha International School, Khalifa City Campus seeks a Learning Assistant - Librarian (Secondary) for an immediate start. The successful candidate will maintain an engaging library environment, support curriculum integration, promote literacy, and collaborate with teaching staff to enhance student learning across the secondary section.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain an attractive, ordered and clean library environment that reflects IB philosophies and current curricular topics.
• Promote an understanding of the difference between research and inquiry while selecting, ordering, processing and publicising new materials.
• Serve as a resource for literacy support and curriculum integration of technology, providing access to diverse information sources including databases, portals and media.
• Instruct students on effective strategies for collecting and evaluating information using both traditional and evolving digital tools.
• Promote the joy of reading and appreciation of literature through book sharing, social networking tools and author interactions via teleconferencing.
• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, offering flexible scheduling and support for students with varying needs including SEN and ESL.
• Manage the secondary library, including cataloguing of resources, and coordinate with the Primary School Teacher Librarian.
• Establish and maintain a library webpage and provide after-hours activities such as parent and child reading nights.
• Adhere at all times to the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.

Requirements

• Experience in a school library setting with knowledge of IB programmes.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage library personnel and resources effectively.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with successful applicants subject to background checks including references, qualifications, identification and police checks.
