About the school

Miller House School is a brand-new specialist SEMH setting located in Stoneygate, Leicester. The school opened in September 2025 with a capacity of 80 pupils and provides co-educational provision for young people aged 11 to 16 with complex needs, including social, emotional and mental health difficulties, autism and ADHD. The school is committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where every pupil is supported to thrive. Miller House School is part of Acorn Education and Outcomes First Group.

The role

We are seeking an inspirational Maths Lead Teacher to join Miller House School from the outset. This permanent, term-time-only position begins in September 2026 and offers a salary of up to Β£45,000 per annum, depending on experience. The role combines outstanding classroom teaching with subject leadership, providing the opportunity to shape the Maths curriculum, influence whole-school practice and establish a culture of high expectations and inclusion.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop an ambitious, engaging Maths curriculum across the school.
  • Deliver high-quality, inspiring lessons that enable every pupil to achieve their potential.
  • Drive improvements in teaching, learning and assessment within the subject.
  • Monitor pupil progress, analyse data and implement strategies to raise attainment.
  • Coach and support colleagues, sharing best practice and promoting high-quality teaching.
  • Adapt learning to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEN, SEMH, autism and ADHD.
  • Create stimulating, inclusive learning environments that foster confidence, resilience and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team, therapists, families and external professionals to secure the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Contribute actively to the development of the school’s culture, curriculum and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/PGCE).
  • Outstanding classroom practitioner with a genuine passion for Maths.
  • Aspiring or experienced subject leader with the ability to inspire colleagues and drive improvement.
  • Creative and adaptable, with skill in delivering personalised learning for pupils with additional needs.
  • Strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and helping every child achieve their full potential.
  • Confident communicator who builds positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Organised, reflective and motivated to develop professionally.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEN, SEMH, autism or ADHD is highly desirable.
