About the school

Miller House School is a brand-new specialist SEMH setting located in Stoneygate, Leicester. The school opened in September 2025 with a capacity of 80 pupils and provides co-educational provision for young people aged 11 to 16 with complex needs, including social, emotional and mental health difficulties, autism and ADHD. The school is part of Acorn Education and Outcomes First Group, which was certified as a Great Place to Work for the sixth consecutive year in 2025.

The role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Maths Lead Teacher to join our specialist school. This permanent, term-time-only position is offered at 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a salary of up to ยฃ45,000 per annum depending on experience. The role commences in November 2026 and is open to UK applicants only, with no sponsorship available.

As Maths Lead Teacher you will deliver creative and engaging lessons that inspire pupils to develop confidence in numeracy, overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team and may also take on the role of Form Tutor, providing pastoral support and building strong relationships with families and professionals.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons that motivate and inspire learners.
  • Plan, prepare and adapt lessons to meet the individual needs of every pupil.
  • Monitor progress and use assessment effectively to drive achievement.
  • Promote positive behaviour through therapeutic and restorative approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals.
  • Support pupils personal, social and emotional development.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and wider school activities.
  • Build strong partnerships with families and external agencies.

Requirements

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS, QTLS or equivalent).
  • Has experience teaching Maths at secondary level.
  • Believes every young person can achieve and succeed.
  • Can build positive relationships and establish high expectations.
  • Is adaptable, resilient and committed to meeting individual learning needs.
  • Brings creativity, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching.
  • Experience within SEN, SEMH or specialist education is desirable but not essential.
