The role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced PE Teacher to deliver one-to-one lessons to students with diverse needs, including those with SEND. In this part-time role you will teach and support students who are unable to attend mainstream schooling, helping them engage with physical education through tailored and accessible lessons. Sessions may take place in students’ homes, libraries, or other agreed locations.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver individualised PE lessons aligned with each student’s academic level and learning objectives.
- Teach a range of topics at GCSE or equivalent levels.
- Promote understanding, engagement and motivation in students.
- Remain patient and flexible, adapting lesson content and teaching methods to support students with SEND and other learning challenges.
- Track and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents and staff.
- Work collaboratively with pastoral teams to ensure holistic support for each student.
- Maintain thorough records of lessons and progress in line with educational requirements.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant experience teaching PE.
- Experience teaching up to KS4 PE (GCSE).
- Experience working with SEND students is highly desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of the PE curriculum and related topics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students in a one-to-one setting.
- Flexibility to work in various locations, including students’ homes or other designated learning environments.
- A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
