Reddish Hall School is an independent specialist day school in Stockport for pupils with SEMH needs, many with additional diagnoses including ASC, ADHD, and Dyslexia. The role

At Reddish Hall School, physical education is about building confidence, resilience, teamwork and self-belief. We are seeking a passionate and motivated PE Teacher to join our dedicated team and make a lasting difference to the lives of young people aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional SEND.

As PE Teacher, you will plan and deliver high-quality lessons that are creative, accessible and tailored to meet individual pupil needs.

Position: PE Teacher
Location: Reddish Hall School, Stockport, SK5 6UY
Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 4.00pm
Salary: £39,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
Start date: September 2026

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and differentiated PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Adapt learning to meet a wide range of SEMH and SEND needs.
• Foster teamwork, resilience, confidence and positive attitudes towards physical activity.
• Assess, monitor and celebrate pupil progress, supporting accreditation where appropriate.
• Safely transport pupils to and from off-site PE facilities, following safeguarding, behaviour and health & safety procedures.
• Build positive relationships using trauma-informed and relational approaches.
• Contribute to enrichment opportunities, sporting activities and the wider life of the school.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching PE in a secondary setting or the confidence and ability to teach pupils aged 11–16.
• Excellent subject knowledge and a creative approach to delivering inclusive PE lessons.
• Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, resilient approach.
• A good understanding of SEMH and additional SEND, or a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
• Driving licence and willingness to transport pupils as part of the role.
