The role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Peripatetic Guitar Teacher to join the Music Department. This is a casual worker position paid at an hourly rate, likely for one day per week subject to discussion. The successful candidate will deliver engaging one-to-one and small-group guitar lessons to students of varying ages and abilities, supporting beginners through to more advanced musicians. The role involves encouraging musical progression, fostering a love of music and helping students prepare for performances, concerts and examinations.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high-quality guitar tuition that develops students technical ability, musical understanding and performance confidence.
- Tailor lessons to meet the individual learning needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
- Support students in preparing for performances, concerts and examinations.
- Contribute to the wider cultural life of the school through enrichment opportunities.
Requirements
- Accomplished guitarist with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience teaching guitar in a school, music service or private tuition setting.
- Strong understanding of contemporary and traditional repertoire.
- Ability to motivate and engage young people and tailor lessons to individual needs.
- Commitment to safeguarding, child protection and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people.
