About the school
Grateley House School is a specialist day school in Andover, Hampshire, for children and young people aged 11-19 with a diagnosis of autism and other associated needs. The school delivers the National Curriculum, with students supported by experienced subject teachers, teaching assistants and an in-house therapy team.
The role
We are seeking a committed, creative and reflective Primary Teacher to join our dedicated team. You will play a key role in establishing our new Key Stage 2 provision, delivering engaging and adaptable lessons that build confidence, curiosity and success in learners with additional needs. Working alongside experienced teaching assistants and our therapy team, you will ensure every student has the tools, confidence and support to thrive both academically and personally. The position is permanent, 40 hours per week, with a salary of up to ยฃ42,000 per annum and a start date of September.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching within our Key Stage 2 provision.
- Support students to access the National Curriculum at an appropriate level.
- Adapt teaching to meet individual EHCP outcomes.
- Motivate and engage learners through inclusive, creative practice.
- Provide meaningful feedback to support progress and build confidence.
- Contribute to enrichment and the wider life of the school.
- Work collaboratively within a skilled and forward-thinking team.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching at Key Stage 2.
- Strong classroom management and a flexible, responsive teaching style.
- A reflective practitioner committed to continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A genuine passion for working with young people with SEND.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to whole-school values.
- Experience in curriculum development (desirable).
- Enthusiasm for shaping a new and evolving provision.
