Rafa Nadal School Secondary Principal
The role
The Principal is responsible for the overall administration and management of the secondary school (Grades 7–12) at Rafa Nadal International School in Mallorca, Spain. The position focuses on maintaining effective school operations, supporting and supervising teachers, and ensuring clear communication between the school and parents. The Principal works to create a structured, safe, and professional environment that supports student success and staff effectiveness. The start date is August 20, 2026.
Key responsibilities
School administration
- Oversee the daily administrative operations of the secondary school.
- Ensure school policies, procedures, and regulations are implemented consistently.
- Manage student discipline, attendance procedures, and behavioral expectations.
- Coordinate schedules, supervision duties, and operational logistics for the school day.
- Supervise administrative and support staff within the secondary school division.
- Maintain accurate records related to student conduct, attendance, and school operations.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and local regulatory requirements.
- Lead staff meetings related to operations, procedures, and school management.
Parent communication
- Serve as the primary contact for parents regarding serious issues in student behavior or concerns.
- Conduct meetings with parents regarding serious disciplinary issues, behavioral concerns, or school expectations.
- Communicate important school updates, policies, and procedures to families.
- Support positive relationships between families and the school community.
- Work with coordinators and teachers to coordinate parent meetings when needed.
Teacher supervision and administrative support
- Supervise teachers to ensure adherence to school policies, professional conduct, and expectations.
- Conduct formal and informal classroom observations focused on professionalism, classroom management, and adherence to school procedures.
- Provide feedback and administrative guidance to teachers.
- Manage teacher schedules, duties, and responsibilities.
- Address staff performance concerns and support improvement plans when necessary.
- Facilitate faculty meetings and ensure consistent communication with staff.
- Support new teacher onboarding and ensure staff understand school policies and procedures.
Student management
- Oversee student disciplinary procedures and ensure consistent enforcement of school rules.
- Handle serious behavioral issues and coordinate appropriate responses.
- Ensure systems are in place for monitoring student attendance and conduct.
- Work with coordinators and teachers to support student well-being and accountability.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
- Prior experience in school administration or leadership; experience with the American curriculum is an advantage.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and students in an international school environment.
- First language English or C1 level; working knowledge of Spanish is an advantage.
