About the school
The Strothoff International School is a bilingual, international school. In our pedagogical concept, we follow both the Hessian education plan and the international IB curriculum. On our family-friendly and modern campus in Dreieich near Frankfurt, we offer around 400 children and young people access to German-English language acquisition, starting in nursery, according to the immersion method. Within the framework of our international and diverse campus community, our pedagogical team in the nursery, primary school and secondary school supports our students in growing up to become independent, open-minded and globally thinking young people. The Strothoff International School is part of the Phorms Education SE network of bilingual schools and nurseries that has been enriching the educational landscape in Germany since 2006.
The role
We are looking for a School Counselor in full-time or part-time. In this role, you will empower students to thrive academically, socially and personally while working across two of our Phorms locations: Dreieich for three days per week and Frankfurt City for two days per week.
Key responsibilities
- Individual counselling and support for students facing academic, personal or social challenges
- Organising and facilitating workshops and programmes for students, teachers and parents on topics including teamwork, conflict resolution, self-organisation, resilience and personal development
- Prevention and intervention in cases of conflict, bullying and crisis situations
- Participating in and helping to shape field trips, class trips and projects to strengthen the sense of community
- Close cooperation with teachers, school leadership and parents in supporting students with special needs
- Collaboration with external partners and counselling centres
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive and supportive school culture through safeguarding initiatives, prevention work and collaboration with the wider school community
Requirements
- A completed degree in social work, social pedagogy or a comparable qualification
- Several years of professional experience in guidance counselling or social work with children, adolescents and parents, ideally in a school setting
- Working proficiency in both English and German
- High intercultural competencies as well as excellent communication skills
- Independent, solution-oriented and responsible approach to work
