School Office Assistant Basic
About the school
George Abbot School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive with 2,000 students, situated on the north side of Guildford. The school is located within easy reach of the town, the A3 and London Road railway station. It has an established reputation for high academic standards and exemplary pastoral care, and is an innovative and inclusive school with an extensive, flourishing Sixth Form provision. The school is a very popular choice within the local community.
Ofsted (February 2025) noted that staff and pupils work hard together in this strong school community. The school is highly ambitious for its pupils, with staff providing high-quality teaching and support that takes account of pupils starting points and needs. The school is a calm, safe, purposeful place where pupils are exceptionally courteous and polite, treating each other with respect and care.
The Good Schools Guide (June 2024) reported that parents and pupils attribute the schools success to its strong leadership and supportive teachers. Pupils felt that many staff go above and beyond, making lessons enjoyable and interactive and sharing their passion for their subjects. The school motto, not for oneself but for all, encourages an altruistic and reflective attitude.
