About the school

The British School of Málaga is the only British school in the city of Málaga. The school is part of the International Schools Partnership and offers a high-quality British education for students aged 3 to 18. It follows the English National Curriculum in EYFS, KS1, KS2 and KS3, the IGCSE in Years 10 and 11, and the A Level programme in Years 12 and 13. Students progress to leading universities in Spain, the UK and worldwide. The school currently has just over 900 students and is located in an exclusive suburb of Málaga on the Andalusian coast.

The role

Required for September 2026, the school seeks a Science Teacher with QTS or equivalent, recognised for teaching in the UK or overseas, together with an appropriate teaching qualification. The Science Department teaches the Edexcel IGCSE and A Level specifications and is high performing. Science remains popular at A Level, and experience of teaching Chemistry at A Level is an advantage. The department is forward thinking, collaborative and uses current research to deliver engaging lessons. There are currently five full-time Science teachers.

Successful candidates will demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of curriculum developments, a passion for students both inside and outside the classroom, and experience of teaching across Secondary levels. They will be outstanding practitioners who inspire students through a student-centred approach, model excellent practice, analyse data confidently and possess strong IT, organisational and communication skills. All staff contribute to the wider life of the school.

Requirements

  • QTS status or equivalent, recognised for teaching in the UK or overseas, together with an appropriate teaching qualification
  • Minimum of one year’s experience in a UK school or British school overseas
  • Current Police Clearance, DBS or ICPC certificate from the most recent country of teaching
  • Ability to demonstrate in the letter of application how previous experience will address the challenges of teaching expatriate and local children in a British school in Spain
  • Passion for learning and the capacity to inspire students through engaging and demanding teaching
  • Flexibility, sense of humour and willingness to participate fully in school life
