The role
The English International School of Padua seeks an enthusiastic and talented Teacher of Computer Science to teach across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (Cambridge IGCSE) and Key Stage 5 (IB Diploma Programme) within its thriving Secondary School. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth of the subject and support wider STEM initiatives. The position commences on 31st August 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and differentiated Computer Science lessons across KS3, KS4 (Cambridge IGCSE) and KS5 (IB Diploma Programme).
- Prepare students effectively for external examinations and ensure strong academic progress.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and assessments aligned with the Cambridge IGCSE and IB Diploma Programme Computer Science curricula.
- Foster computational thinking, programming skills and problem-solving through practical and theoretical learning experiences, including Python and topics such as algorithms, data representation, computer systems, networking, databases and object-oriented programming.
- Monitor, assess and report on student progress with timely and constructive feedback.
- Inspire curiosity and enthusiasm for Computer Science and encourage further study and careers in technology.
- Contribute to curriculum development and wider STEM initiatives while collaborating across departments to promote interdisciplinary learning.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in Computer Science education and assessment practices.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues and demonstrate excellent organisational skills and classroom management.
- Support the wider life of the school through pastoral responsibilities and extracurricular activities such as coding clubs, robotics and programming competitions.
Requirements
- A recognised teaching qualification and relevant degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience teaching Computer Science in a secondary setting.
- Strong subject knowledge across programming, computational thinking, algorithms, computer architecture and software development.
- The ability to stretch high-achieving students while supporting learners of all abilities.
- A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and student wellbeing.
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills together with a collaborative approach.
