About the school
Socrates Educa International School is located in Salou, south of Barcelona, with capacity for up to 800 students. The school is inclusive and provides education for students aged 1 to 18+. It is the first school to operate under the Socrates Educa model, an innovative pedagogical system. The school is a trilingual English, Spanish and Catalan institution offering Pre-school, Primary, Secondary, National and International Baccalaureate programmes as well as the US High School Dual Diploma. Chinese is also taught as a foreign language. The curriculum is based on the local framework but influenced by international teachers and delivered mainly in English. A wide range of extra-curricular activities, community projects, educational visits and an annual university fair form part of school life, alongside strong sports, music and cultural events.
The role
We are seeking a Secondary Maths and Physics teacher with experience in both national and International Baccalaureate curricula. The position begins in September 2026. The successful candidate will teach students aged 12 to 18 and will also serve as a tutor.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver engaging Maths and Physics lessons to secondary students of all abilities
- Act as a tutor, supporting the pastoral care of a tutor group
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Contribute to the school’s international and multilingual environment
Requirements
- Fluent in English with the ability to teach entirely in authentic English
- Qualified teacher status: Bachelor of Education, PGCE, Secondary QTS or equivalent
- Strong subject knowledge and passion for Maths and Physics
- International teaching experience
- Good ICT skills, including familiarity with Mac and iPad devices and educational applications
- IB knowledge
International experience is essential. IB experience is desirable. Knowledge of the Spanish ESO and Bachillerato curriculum, as well as Spanish and Catalan language skills, are advantageous. Experience with UCAS or the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is also useful.
