The role
Safa Community School seeks a dynamic and passionate Secondary Teacher of French or Spanish to join its accomplished secondary department. The successful candidate will teach across the age and ability range, including GCSE and A-Level. Ability to teach an additional language is an advantage. The position forms part of the school’s strategic growth to meet rising student enrolment.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver courses and lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
- Set, mark and assess work, recording and reporting on student development and progress in line with school policy.
- Use data to inform teaching, monitor progress and implement timely interventions.
- Prepare students for public examinations and attend related meetings.
- Communicate regularly with parents, including the writing of reports and attendance at Parents’ Evenings and Open Evenings.
- Maintain good order and discipline among students.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development and policy.
- Keep up to date with curriculum innovation and engage in continuing professional development.
- Collaborate with support teachers and, where appropriate, mentor beginning teachers.
- Carry out administrative and organisational tasks to support the smooth running of the department.
- Support UAE initiatives and cultural expectations and familiarise themselves with the DSIB inspection framework.
Requirements
- Hold relevant teaching qualifications.
- Have experience teaching in British Curriculum schools, including IGCSE and A-Level.
- Demonstrate outstanding classroom practice and the ability to secure strong student progress.
- Possess a thorough understanding of assessment and examination requirements for Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
- Show enthusiasm for the subject and the capacity to convey this to students.
- Work effectively as part of a team and maintain up-to-date subject knowledge.
- Display a commitment to ongoing professional development.
