About the school
The British School of Barcelona (City) is a leading international school and member of HMC. A recent BSO inspection judged the school to be outstanding in every area, including quality of education, safeguarding, pupil welfare and academic outcomes. BSB is a large school for children aged 3 to 18. The curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum, with a wide range of GCSEs, A levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme offered alongside a significant enrichment programme. Over 2000 pupils from more than 74 nationalities attend the school. BSB City is located in the heart of Barcelona, with a Foundation campus and a main campus that opened in September 2023. The role
We are seeking to appoint a permanent, full-time Secondary Teacher of Science and Physical Education to join the City campus, starting in September 2026. Science and Physical Education are popular and highly valued subjects at BSB and are taught across Key Stage 3, IGCSE and as part of the IB Diploma Programme. The successful candidate will teach Science to students in Years 7โ11 and contribute to the continued development of Physical Education and sport at the City campus.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and challenging lessons to all key stages that link with the real world and align with department schemes of work.
- Assist in curriculum development and delivery of an appropriate, comprehensive, high-quality curriculum programme at all key stages.
- Use homework and assessments to monitor and track pupil progress, identify and support underachieving students, and challenge high achievers with appropriate intervention.
- Provide feedback and communicate effectively with parents to ensure students and parents are aware of strengths and targets throughout the academic year.
- Work collaboratively with department colleagues to ensure the department continues to improve.
- Work with colleagues and members of the SLT to ensure school improvement plan priorities are effectively implemented.
Requirements
- Experience teaching Science and Physical Education up to Key Stage 4.
- Ability to teach Science to students in Years 7โ11.
- Capacity to contribute to the development of Physical Education and sport at the City campus.
- Commitment to working as part of a team of enthusiastic professionals in an international setting to deliver outstanding outcomes for students.
