About the school

Miller House School is a brand-new specialist SEMH setting located in Stoneygate, Leicester. The school opened in September 2025 with a capacity of 80 pupils and provides co-educational provision for young people aged 11–16 with complex needs, including social, emotional and mental health difficulties, autism and ADHD. The school is part of Acorn Education and Outcomes First Group, which was certified as a Great Place to Work for the sixth consecutive year in 2025.

The role

Miller House School seeks an enthusiastic SEN Maths Teacher to join its team from September 2026. This permanent, term-time-only position is offered at 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a salary of up to £42,500 per annum depending on experience. The successful candidate will teach pupils with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs in a supportive environment with smaller class sizes and access to a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Maths lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to support pupils with autism, SEND and complex needs.
  • Monitor, assess and celebrate pupil progress to inform personalised learning plans.
  • Create a positive, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence, problem-solving skills and a positive attitude to learning.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, families and the wider team.
  • Contribute to the development of the Maths curriculum and whole-school improvement.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a degree in Mathematics with a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching pupils with autism, SEND or complex needs, or a willingness to develop specialist skills.
  • Ability to deliver creative, engaging lessons that make learning accessible.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary working.
  • Adaptability, resilience and commitment to outstanding pupil outcomes.
  • Full UK driving licence.
