If you are a dynamic and inspirational Dutch Language Teacher with experience across Language & Literature and Language Acquisition, we would love to hear from you.

The successful candidate will be passionate about language learning, committed to fostering intercultural understanding, and able to inspire students to become confident communicators in Dutch.

Teaching across IGCSE, IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP), you will support learners at all stages—from beginners acquiring Dutch as an additional language to advanced students engaging critically with literature. There may also be opportunities to support learning in other parts of the school where appropriate.

This vacancy comes with the opportunity to be Head of Dutch (for the whole school, Primary and Senior Schools).

What will you do on a day-to-day basis?

The successful candidate will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Dutch language lessons that develop students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

  • Teach across both Language Acquisition and Language & Literature pathways, supporting a wide range of proficiency levels.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of multilingual learners and students with diverse learning profiles.

  • Foster confidence, creativity, and authentic use of Dutch in and beyond the classroom.

  • Develop students’ appreciation of Dutch culture, literature, and identity within an international context.

  • Design and contribute to inquiry-based, concept-driven curriculum aligned with IB and IGCSE frameworks.

  • Use a range of formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor progress and inform teaching.

  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to support student growth and reflection.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure coherence and progression across the language programme.

  • Integrate digital tools, authentic materials, and interdisciplinary approaches into language learning.

  • Contribute to enrichment opportunities such as language clubs, cultural events, and competitions.

  • Support whole-school initiatives that promote international-mindedness and intercultural understanding.

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes student wellbeing and participation.

What will you bring to the table?

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience teaching Dutch language and/or literature across primary and/or secondary levels.

  • Experience teaching both Dutch as a first language and as an additional language.

  • Familiarity with IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP) and/or IGCSE (highly desirable).

  • A bachelor’s degree in Education, Dutch Language and Literature, Linguistics, or a related field with a recognised teaching qualification.

  • Fluency in Dutch and English (verbal and written).

  • A strong understanding of language acquisition pedagogy and literacy development.

  • Experience differentiating instruction to support diverse and multilingual learners.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to inspire students and foster a love of language and literature.

  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to working as part of a wider school community.

  • Creativity, cultural awareness, and a passion for intercultural learning.

  • A commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
