Sports Graduate Assistants Basic

The role

Rossall School is seeking active and engaged graduates or university students on placement to join the Sports and PE Department. Graduate Assistants live on-site in shared staff accommodation, enabling full participation in school life. Positions are available in Football, Netball and Hockey. The purpose of the role is to assist with the coaching of sport and fixtures across the school.

Key responsibilities

• Coach Rossall sports teams during games, fixtures and training sessions
• Deliver assigned EPP sessions
• Assist with the delivery of ILPs
• Support all signature programmes as requested
• Undertake any other duties assigned by the Assistant Head (Director of Sport)
• Be available for Saturday, midweek and cup fixtures as agreed at the start of each term
• Lead and support training sessions both midweek and at weekends
• Safeguard the health and safety of pupils
• Participate in all relevant meetings
• Undertake boarding house duties
• Assist with evening gym activities and organised sessions as required

Requirements

• A high level of playing and coaching experience in Football, Netball or Hockey
• Ability to deliver high-quality sessions to students aged 12 to 18
• A coaching qualification, licence or equivalent is a significant advantage
• A professional, caring and compassionate approach to working with students
• Conscientiousness, enthusiasm and the capacity to sustain long hours during term time, including evenings and weekends
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
• A positive attitude towards professional development and personal learning
