The role

Subject Support Manager – Psychology and Law

Locations: Milton Keynes, London or Guildford

Salary: £44,700 - £50,900

Hybrid working: one day in the office per week plus extensive national travel including overnight stays.

This position offers the opportunity to use expertise in Psychology to support teachers in delivering AQA qualifications with confidence. The role also includes support for the Law teaching community, with comprehensive upskilling provided where required. AQA Psychology holds a leading position at GCSE, AS and A-level, with over 66,000 A-level entries annually.

The post sits within a Subject Support team of 60 subject experts. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, stakeholders and networks to strengthen specification delivery, gather subject insight and contribute to assessment and curriculum development.

Key responsibilities

• Represent AQA and deliver key subject messages to external audiences.
• Support schools, centres and teachers with subject-related queries and with planning and delivering Psychology and Law specifications.
• Engage with teachers both face-to-face and online to support continuous improvement and subject confidence.
• Build strong relationships with subject stakeholders and use insights to shape future developments.
• Gather and analyse data and customer feedback to inform decisions and improve delivery.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Product Management, Marketing, Sales and Events.

Requirements

• A clear and confident understanding of A-level Psychology and/or GCSE Psychology, their specifications and current pedagogy.
• An understanding of A-level Law (desirable but not essential).
• An understanding of GCSE and/or A-level assessment and awareness of the wider education landscape.
• Current or former teaching experience with the ability to demonstrate credibility with teachers.
• Evidence of extending influence beyond the classroom, for example through subject networks, CPD delivery, EdTech projects or other outward-facing responsibilities.
• The ability to use data effectively to inform delivery and understand customer impact.
• Clear and empathetic communication skills, including presenting to teachers and stakeholders.
• The ability to explain AQA’s offer in a clear and accessible way.
• Flexibility to travel extensively, including regular overnight stays.
