The role

To support the Secondary School team, Berlin Metropolitan School is seeking an adaptable and inspiring Substitute Teacher (f/m/d) in a full-time cover role starting as soon as possible for approximately 6 to 12 months.

Key responsibilities

• Support and promote the school and the IB mission statements.
• Ensure lessons are organised, stimulating and attractive.
• Demonstrate effort and commitment to make lessons enjoyable and relevant to all learners.
• Create opportunities to promote intercultural understanding.
• Encourage students to continue their learning independently and spark enthusiasm and love for learning by modelling this approach.
• Provide opportunities for pupils to develop skills in teamwork and collaborative learning.
• Communicate students’ success and next steps effectively to them and their parents.
• Maintain co-operative, supportive professional relationships with the entire school community.
• Continuously assess students’ progress using a variety of methods.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of progress to communicate success and development to students, parents and colleagues.

Requirements

• A committed, experienced and well-qualified Secondary Teacher seeking an opportunity to extend their expertise in a high-quality teaching environment.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education with an official teaching certification for Secondary Education.
• Ideally, experience with the IGCSE and IB curriculum.
• Experience in teaching Ethics or qualifications to teach another Secondary School subject is a plus.
• Excellent English language skills.
