Teacher - Design Technology (Textiles) - Mamoura British Academy (AY 26/27)
The role
Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi seeks a Teacher of Design Technology (Textiles) to deliver inspiring lessons that enable students to achieve the best possible outcomes. The position commences in the academic year 2026/27.
Key responsibilities
Teamwork and collaboration
- Communicate effectively at all levels and build positive relationships across the school community.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan engaging lessons that meet curriculum requirements.
- Partner with parents to support student happiness and academic progress.
- Work cooperatively with curriculum support staff to aid children’s development.
Teaching and learning
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the curriculum and plan sessions that address the full ability range within each class.
- Collaborate with external professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists when required.
- Embed the Al Mamoura Academy Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes throughout the curriculum.
Assessment and data
- Take responsibility for the progress of an assigned class.
- Meet requirements for assessment and recording of student development using Target Tracker.
- Use assessment data to inform planning, provision and intervention.
- Provide feedback to parents and carers on student progress at Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings.
Behaviour management and duties
- Follow the school’s behaviour policy and manage classes using approaches suited to students’ needs.
- Inspire, motivate and challenge pupils while maintaining positive relationships and exercising appropriate authority.
- Act as a positive role model by consistently demonstrating the attitudes, values and behaviour expected of pupils.
Wider professional responsibilities
- Contribute to a curriculum action group, supporting planning, assessment, resources and special events.
- Communicate with parents and carers regarding student achievements and well-being, using school systems such as CPOMS where appropriate.
- Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
- Run a weekly ECA each term.
