Teacher of Biology

🇬🇧 Surrey 🕐 Posted 10h ago

We are a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted, April 2024), where our boarding provision was recently judged as ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted, 2025). The inspectors highlighted that our “students are making significant progress,” noting they are “supported through a culture of high expectation, helping them to achieve the best they can.” We are a lively and purposeful co-educational, comprehensive state boarding school for children aged 7 to 18 years, with approximately 700 flexi-boarders and 300 full boarders. A popular choice for both local families and international boarders, our success is driven by our exceptional facilities, academic results, and a boarding ethos that fosters a wide range of co-curricular activities and positive student attitudes. We are now seeking a dedicated professional to contribute to this thriving, high-expectation environment.

We offer:

  • A collaborative and highly supportive professional community

  • Excellent onsite facilities, including free staff lunch and access to the gym and indoor pool

  • Enhanced school admission priority for children of teaching staff

  • Beautiful estate set in 260 acres of parkland

  • Convenient location, close to the A23 and M25 with on-site parking

We are looking for an exceptional Teacher of Biology who can provide highly effective and innovative teaching of biology in the senior school, to ensure that all our students make excellent progress and inspire students to have a passion for the subject.

Applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are warmly welcomed; we offer a supportive environment perfect for launching a successful teaching career.

At GCSE students achieve results higher than the national average in 9-7, 9-4 and 9-1, with over 80% 9-7 in Separate science and 75% 9-4 in Combined Science. At A level typically students achieve 100% achieve A*- E. The department has been commended by Ofsted in the past on ‘knowing just what they want students to learn and in what order’ with subject teachers ‘explaining subject matter and checking students’ understanding well’.

The school’s approach to GCSE leads to a consistent uptake in the 6th form. There are classes for Biology, Chemistry and Physics in both the Year 12 and Year 13. We have a good number of students going on to study STEM related degrees.

The successful candidate will be:

• Passionate about the teaching of biology
