The role

Rugby School seeks an ambitious and dynamic colleague who shares its vision of teaching as a vocation. The successful candidate will join a large and forward-thinking Chemistry department, teaching the subject to students throughout the school at GCSE, IB Diploma and A Level. The department is supported by a team of technicians and is housed in the school’s excellent Science Centre. Academic enrichment opportunities include the IRIS project in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin.

This is a part-time role equivalent to between 0.5 and 0.7 of a full-time teaching position. A 0.7 FTE role equates to a full classroom teaching allocation of 42 periods per fortnight, while a 0.5 FTE role equates to 30 periods per fortnight. The role excludes the sports coaching, boarding and Rugby 360 (Community Service) responsibilities typically associated with a full-time teaching post. Teaching at Rugby takes place across six days each week; however, the school aims to confine teaching commitments for this part-time role to Monday to Friday.

The anticipated start date is 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter, and no later than 1 April 2027. The closing date for applications is 5 October 2026. Applications will be considered upon receipt and the school reserves the right to make an appointment before the closing date.
