Teacher of Chemistry (temporary position to cover longer term medical absence)
The School
Established in 1894, Oporto British School is the longest-established British School in mainland Europe. It follows the English National Curriculum up to KS3, leading to Cambridge IGCSE, and then to the IB Diploma Programme. Our pupils have achieved outstanding IB Diploma results in recent years. The school, while being conscious of its British foundation and traditions, is very much an international school of the 21st century. The Position
We are seeking a talented and motivated Teacher of Chemistry to join our thriving Secondary School immediately and to temporarily cover a possible longer term medical absence.
This is a full-time role teaching Science at Key Stage 3, and Chemistry at IGCSE and IB Diploma level.
You will join a dynamic and supportive Science department that enjoys a high profile within the school, with students consistently achieving results above UK and international benchmarks. The successful candidate will be committed to excellent teaching and learning, able to inspire students with a genuine enthusiasm for Chemistry and Science, and willing to contribute fully to the wider life of the school.
The ideal candidate will:
• Holds a relevant degree and teaching qualification
• Have experience teaching Chemistry to school leaving age
• Demonstrate a student centred approached, strong classroom management, and adaption to different learning needs
• Enjoy collaborating, sharing best practice, and playing a role in the continued develop of the department
