Teacher of Chemistry Basic

The role

A well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Chemistry is required at Berkhamsted School to teach in the Senior School (Years 7-13) and to contribute to all aspects of the department’s work, both inside and outside the classroom. The successful candidate will teach all age groups and share in the delivery of KS3, IGCSE and A Level courses. They will demonstrate excellent subject knowledge, the ability to stretch the most able students and a willingness to make a full contribution to the Science department. All teachers are expected to assist in the development of Schemes of Work and teaching resources.

The post is available from January 2027, with flexibility for an April or September start.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Chemistry across Years 7-13, including KS3, IGCSE and A Level
• Contribute fully to the work of the Science department both inside and outside the classroom
• Assist in the ongoing development of Schemes of Work and teaching resources
• Support the stretch and challenge of the most able students

Requirements

• Well-qualified teacher with strong subject knowledge in Chemistry
• Ability to teach across KS3, IGCSE and A Level
• Enthusiasm for contributing to all aspects of departmental life
• Open to qualified teachers, recent graduates, career changers and those returning from a break
