Teacher of Computer Science (Partnerships) Basic

The role

We have an exceptionally exciting opportunity for an experienced Teacher of Computer Science to join the RGS Partnerships Team. This fixed-term, two-year post is made possible by generous funding from Neptune North. The role is twofold: teaching students at Royal Grammar School while principally working with students and teachers from other local schools on Computing Partnership projects.

The successful candidate will work alongside the existing team of eight Partnership teachers across STEM and Sport. The role is suited to a practitioner with a high level of subject knowledge and experience of teaching at Key Stage 5, as it will largely involve working with very able Sixth Form students. The post is funded to 0.5 FTE and reports to the Director of Partnerships under the guidance of the Head of Computing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a small amount of teaching at RGS, releasing an existing department member for outreach activities.
• Lead the majority of teaching time on projects that raise attainment and improve access to opportunities for students from local state-funded schools and colleges.
• Design and deliver activities that improve the skills of non-specialist Computing teachers in partner schools.
• Demonstrate entrepreneurial flair to inspire, motivate and innovate within the Partnerships programme.
• Contribute to the school’s extensive co-curricular sporting, artistic and cultural programme.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher of Computer Science with substantial experience of teaching at Key Stage 5.
• High level of subject knowledge and the ability to work effectively with very able Sixth Form students.
• Entrepreneurial approach with the capacity to inspire, motivate and innovate.
• Willingness to contribute fully to the co-curricular life of the school.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
