The role
CATS College Cambridge seeks an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and well-qualified Teacher of Computer Science to teach across GCSE, Pre-A Level and A Level programmes. The post is offered at 0.6 full-time equivalent across five days and carries an immediate start. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, challenging and well-structured lessons that enable students to achieve excellent academic progress. They will contribute to a purposeful and ambitious academic culture, support learners from diverse educational and international backgrounds, and help develop Computer Science as a dynamic and forward-looking subject within the College.
Key responsibilities
- Teach Computer Science confidently across the age and ability range, including examination classes.
- Plan and deliver well-structured, engaging and challenging lessons that promote strong academic progress.
- Support students from a wide range of educational and international backgrounds.
- Contribute fully to the academic, pastoral and wider life of the College.
- Help develop Computer Science as a dynamic and forward-looking subject area.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Computing, Software Engineering or a closely related subject.
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one where appropriate.
- Successful experience of teaching Computer Science at secondary or sixth-form level.
- Strong subject knowledge, including programming, algorithms, computational thinking and computer systems.
- Competence in at least one major programming language used in school-level Computer Science, preferably Python.
- The ability to plan and deliver well-structured, engaging and challenging lessons.
- A strong understanding of assessment, feedback and examination preparation.
- High expectations of studentsβ academic progress, behaviour and independent study.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and the welfare of young people.
- A reflective approach to professional development.
