About the school

Open Sky International is a French and English bilingual private school situated in Boulogne-Billancourt on the outskirts of Paris. The school opened in 2012 and currently welcomes pupils from maternelle through to Terminale. Students follow a bilingual timetable with approximately half of their classes in French and half in English. Older students prepare for a combination of GCSE, IGCSE, International A Level and A Level examinations.

The school provides a bilingual education of excellence built on the strongest aspects of international curricula. Class sizes are small and pupils are courteous, hard-working and motivated. The school community is fully international, serving both French and expatriate families.

The role

We are seeking a teacher of English as an Additional Language for Primary and Secondary pupils. The successful candidate will support pupils in developing the English language skills required to access the English-taught curriculum. English is taught at all levels, with pupils in Secondary preparing for Pearson Edexcel GCSE English Language and English Literature in Year 11, and A Level English Language and Literature as an option in the sixth form.

There is an expectation that the post-holder will contribute to the after-school programme.

Requirements

• Native English speaker with a good honours degree and qualified teacher status.
• Minimum of five years relevant teaching experience.
• Experience of teaching English as an Additional Language and familiarity with the English curriculum and qualification system.
• Ability to enthuse pupils, demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge and teach with confidence.
• Enthusiasm for education and a sound understanding of best practice.
• Capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Priority will be given to candidates who already have the right to work within the European Union.

Knowledge of French is welcome but not mandatory. Private French lessons will be provided for teachers who require support with language development.
