About the Academy
Outwood Academy Shafton is an 11–16 academy based in the heart of Shafton, Barnsley. We are proud to be a ‘Good’ school, as recognised by Ofsted, where inspectors noted our ‘high expectations for the academic success of all pupils’ and the ‘calm and purposeful’ environment we foster.
As part of the high-performing Outwood Grange Academies Trust, you will join a supportive network of academies committed to raising standards and transforming lives.
About the Department
Our English department is a well-established, high-performing team with a strong reputation across the academy and wider community. You’ll join a dedicated team of thirteen experienced English specialists as well as two subject specialist teaching assistants and two 121 tutors, all committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning. Our enthusiastic educators are further supported by our highly skilled and experienced School Standards Improvement Partners providing continuous CPD and individual support.
The department boasts an exceptionally well-resourced and culturally rich curriculum, featuring cutting-edge classroom technologies that empower teachers to deliver dynamic and inspiring learning experiences. We nurture a close-knit and supportive team environment – a true family dedicated to maximising the potential of every student and equipping them with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the future.
We are a successful department that has made significant improvements in recent years. We continue to develop our curriculum, ensuring students are exposed to a variety of texts and ideas to broaden their perspective and cultural capital and place a huge emphasis on the love of reading.
We are now seeking to appoint another vibrant and dynamic English teacher to join our fantastic team. We are committed to providing the very best education for every child, with a focus on creating a culture of success and a positive learning environment. We aim to instil a love of English and reading and a desire for knowledge in every child in our care.
As we continue to improve and progress, help to take us to the next level.
Our Commitment
As a member of the Outwood Family of Schools, we believe in putting Students First, raising standards, and transforming lives. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory completion of safeguarding checks.
