The role
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Teacher of English, with the possibility of a middle leadership responsibility. The successful candidate will teach English Language and Literature across the secondary phase up to the end of Key Stage 5. The school follows the English National Curriculum at Key Stage 3, IGCSE at Key Stage 4 and the IB Diploma programme in the Sixth Form. Experience teaching English Language and Literature, English as a Second Language at IGCSE and English A and English B at HL/SL in the IB Diploma is desirable. Training will be provided for teachers new to the IB Diploma programme where subject knowledge is appropriate. The ability to teach Drama is also desirable.
Key responsibilities
- Teach English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 to 5, including IGCSE and IB Diploma courses.
- Contribute to the development of the school's English Language and Literature programmes as a member of the English department.
- Participate fully in the after-school programme and school events throughout the year.
- Deliver high levels of pastoral care and maintain an inclusive approach to education.
- Support the raising of attainment across all ability levels.
Requirements
- Experience teaching English Language and Literature across the secondary phase up to Key Stage 5.
- Strong subject knowledge suitable for IB Diploma level teaching.
- Evidence of being a strong team player with the ability to adapt quickly to new situations.
- Flexible approach to problem solving.
- Commitment to child-centred education and helping every child reach their potential.
- Interest in contributing to the future development of an international school.
