The role

Queen Elizabeth’s School, Dubai Sports City is looking for an inspiring and passionate Teacher of French to join our high-performing academic team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and dedicated teacher to inspire students to develop a genuine love of the French language and the rich cultures of the French-speaking world.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging, challenging, and academically rigorous lessons that develop students’ confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. You will foster curiosity and enthusiasm for languages, encouraging students to communicate confidently and develop a deeper understanding of different cultures and perspectives.

The position is for a January 2027 start.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver outstanding French lessons that are engaging, challenging, and appropriately differentiated.
  • Develop students’ confidence and competence across speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with emphasis on accurate language acquisition, pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary.
  • Create a positive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages active participation and risk-taking in language learning.
  • Promote understanding and appreciation of French-speaking cultures, communities, traditions, and contemporary issues.
  • Deliver the French curriculum in line with the National Curriculum for England and the school’s academic standards.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, plan schemes of work, and use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support students preparing for external examinations where appropriate.
  • Organise and contribute to language-related enrichment activities, competitions, trips, and cultural events.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, share effective practice, and engage in professional development.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, and contribute to the wider life of the school.
  • Ensure compliance with KHDA standards, MOE guidelines, and school policies, maintaining high standards of safeguarding at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in French Language, Modern Foreign Languages, Education, or a related subject.
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or equivalent).
  • At least 3 years of successful teaching experience, preferably within a British curriculum or international school environment.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for French language and Francophone cultures.
  • Experience teaching French across a range of ages and abilities, with a strong understanding of effective language acquisition methodologies.
  • Experience of curriculum planning, assessment, and tracking student progress.
  • Experience preparing students for external examinations or recognised language qualifications is desirable.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and digital resources to support language learning is desirable.
  • Passionate, inspiring, and enthusiastic, with high expectations of students and a commitment to academic excellence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, reflective and collaborative in approach.
