Teacher of Geography (Part-Time) Basic

🏷️ Teacher 🇬🇧 Hampshire 🕐 Posted 1h ago

About the school

Lord Wandsworth College is a registered charity providing outstanding, caring education for boys and girls since 1922. The College occupies a 1,200-acre campus in Hampshire that includes woodland and a working farm.

The role

The Teacher of Geography will contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of an ambitious and coherent seven-year Geography curriculum from Year 7 through to Sixth Form. The successful candidate will inspire pupils to become increasingly knowledgeable, thoughtful and independent geographers, developing secure subject knowledge alongside geographical enquiry, critical thinking, fieldwork and the purposeful use of geographical technologies.

Pupils progress from an enquiry-rich Key Stage 3 curriculum to Edexcel International GCSE Geography and Cambridge International A Level Geography. Geography at the College is a popular and successful subject with a strong emphasis on academic ambition, contemporary Geography and learning beyond the classroom. Fieldwork is central to the department’s approach, making purposeful use of the College’s campus and wider enrichment opportunities.

This is a part-time, fixed-term position for two terms.

Key responsibilities

  • Teach across the age and ability range and contribute to both Human and Physical Geography.
  • Contribute positively to curriculum development, assessment, fieldwork, enrichment and the wider life of the department and College.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and bring geographical interests and expertise to the team.
  • Support the aim that pupils not simply remember Geography, but think geographically: to ask questions, make connections, interpret evidence, evaluate perspectives and engage thoughtfully with a rapidly changing world.

Requirements

  • Ability to teach across the full age and ability range in both Human and Physical Geography.
  • Commitment to curriculum development, fieldwork and enrichment activities.
  • Strong collaborative approach and willingness to share subject expertise.
  • Full commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of young people, including satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.
