The role
Clifton High School seeks to appoint a qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Geography to join a friendly, thriving department. The role is offered on a fixed-term basis for two terms or as a permanent post, full-time, to start 1st January 2027. Geography is a popular option at both GCSE and A level, with almost 60% of pupils gaining a grade 7 or higher at GCSE. The successful candidate will have a background in Physical Geography and the ability to teach to A level and prepare pupils for competitive university applications.
Closing date for applications: Midnight on Thursday 24th September 2026. Interviews will be held on Thursday 1st October 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Teach Geography to pupils who achieve excellent results at GCSE and A level.
- Contribute to the department’s strong emphasis on outdoor learning and field trips.
- Lead clubs and activities as part of the school’s co-curricular programme.
- Participate in the pastoral support system of the school.
- Work collaboratively with the department, wider staff body and parents.
Requirements
- Qualified teacher with the ability and desire to teach Geography to A level.
- Dynamic and confident classroom practitioner with vision and drive to maintain high educational standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the capacity to impart passion for the subject.
- Willingness to lead clubs and activities and contribute to the wider life of the school.
- Interest in PE and Games is desirable though not essential.
Benefits & package
- Salary on the Teachers’ Main or Enhanced Pay Scale, depending on experience: £33,317 to £38,096.
- Choice of fixed-term contract for two terms or permanent contract, to be discussed at interview.
