Teacher of History
The role
Goffs Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of History to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate students across Key Stages 3 to 5, fostering a love for History while delivering high-quality teaching and learning. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the academic and personal development of our students, contributing to the school’s ethos and vision.
Salary: MPS/UPS. Closing Date: 17th July 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons to students of varying ages and abilities, following the school’s curriculum.
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
- Prepare students for qualifications and external examinations, ensuring they achieve their full potential.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively to create a safe and productive learning environment.
- Participate in extracurricular activities, including trips, social events, and sporting activities, to enrich the student experience.
- Undertake pastoral duties, such as acting as a form tutor and supporting students with academic or personal challenges.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support student learning and wellbeing.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies, practices, and procedures.
- Engage in professional development activities, including regular training and observations, to enhance teaching practice.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree relevant to History (essential).
- Proven experience teaching History across KS3 to KS5 with good or outstanding outcomes, or strong observations for early career teachers (essential).
- Excellent knowledge of teaching, learning, and assessment strategies.
- Strong organisational skills, time management, and the ability to use data effectively for lesson planning.
- Proficiency in ICT to support teaching and learning.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Personal qualities such as integrity, fairness, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining confidentiality.
